Don’t be fooled by a Honeydew’s pale rind because it’s green flesh is actually one of the sweetest of all melons when ripe. “Honeydew” is the American name for the French variety “White Antibes,” which was grown for many years in southern France and Algeria for export. This fruit can serve as a refreshing snack and makes an excellent sorbet or palette cleanser between meals.

Tips for Selection

  • Pick a melon that is round to slightly oval in shape and does not have bruises or overly soft spots
  • Color can range from light green to pale yellow
  • The best flavor is at the stage where the surface yields to light thumb pressure
