Back to...Lunch Packing!
Switching gears from summer vacation to the new school year is not only tough for kids but for parents, too. To make the transition easier on your children make sure they have a balanced, nutritious lunch to keep them focused and full of energy all day long. You may not realize but performance in the classroom can be affected by poor nutrition and unhealthy eating habits. So, give your kids the tools (aka food) they need to learn!
If you have young children, I encourage you to take on the responsibility of packing their lunch to give you as much control over the quality of food they eat. You can even make it fun for everyone by getting them involved! Teaching your children healthy behaviors from an early age will increase the chances of them continuing this lifestyle into their teenage years. When they take over the task of making their lunch you can be confident it is a brown bag full of healthy foods, not the makings of whatever was laying around on the pantry shelves.
